Students at Hempstead Early Childhood Center are getting a hands-on jump start on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
On Wednesday, September 26, Dr. Halcyon Watkins visited HECC as a guest speaker and presented a lesson to the three and four year old students on planting fall fruits and vegetables.
These young learners will be planting and maintaining a garden at HECC this fall. The garden, located along the fence inside the playground area behind the building, was created and tilled by Mr. Anthony Hill.
The students will utilize the garden as a learning tool to meet science and math standards throughout the academic year.
Hempstead ISD would like to thank these community members for working with our students and staff in the STEM curriculum to provide hands-on learning. Hempstead ISD...One Town...One Team...One Goal!
