I am very humbled and honored to introduce myself, Keri Houston, as the Principal of Hempstead Early Childhood Center. I share this school community's dedication to caring for our students daily while providing them with a meaningful learning environment.

The 2023-2024 school year will mark my 15th year in education. This is my third year as Hempstead ECC Principal. Before that, I taught first grade at Hempstead Elementary and kindergarten and 7th-grade math at Royal ISD, where I served in many leadership roles. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business from Sam Houston and a Master of Educational Leadership from Lamar University. 

I arrive at HECC as a lifelong Bobcat. I attended and graduated from Hempstead in 1997. I am also the parent of two children who attend Hempstead High School. I help on the Hempstead Little League Board. 

I firmly believe that every child can excel and that the cooperation between home and school builds trust and self-esteem in students. So our students can use their highest potential to shape their future, consequently, the future of our community and our nation. With my goal of advancing the culture of excellence here at HECC, I am devoted to continually exploring new ideas to meet all students' needs and interacting with parents and community members more efficiently. We will be meeting as the staff and with parents and students throughout the year to identify specific goals in student achievement, school climate, and parent communication.

To conclude, please remember that my door is always open to you. I sincerely welcome your conversation and input during this year. Let us keep our students the primary focus of our work. I can't wait to celebrate our collective successes during the 2023-2024 school year.
